Things are hopping in Comedyland

Ok - so maybe there is no "Comedyland" and maybe I'm just incontinent enough that I have no business hopping.  I'm just trying to say that I've got lots o' comedy gigs on my plate for the fall and that's just fine by me.

Thankfully, my kids never fail to give me tons of material and I'm just enough of a goofball to provide myself jokes as well.

I am so grateful for all of the friends and family who have come out to support me.  I couldn't be on this journey without you.

To all of you who haven't made it out yet....What's keeping you?  Don't you deserve a little laughter

Fall has....fallen and it can't get up.

I love all the new starts for fall but sometimes getting into the groove seems a bit like trying to jump into a moving jump rope.  I've always stunk at that.

Some days I wish I was the kid and not the mom.  Then I could just go to school and worry about recess and what to eat for lunch and whether I had a note for Camp Fire Girls or not.

Better yet - get me out of elementary school and take me back to High School.  Contrary to popular opinion, Band Geeks know how to have fun.  Yep.  Today, give me the 80's.
San Francisco Riding Gear, Polo shirts, Oblivion to the fact that the bouncing stretch was probably not the best way to get "Physical" but Lord love Jane Fonda for trying and getting us all to follow her.

As I wax nostalgic for a time gone by I must insert a shameless plug.  Time Out's October show - "Back to Old School : Parenting from the Retro Zone"
October 1 - 8 pm. - Curious Comedy Theater.

Come on!  You know you wanna be there!  All the cool kids are coming!  What's the matter?  Afraid your Mom's gonna find out?  Ok, bring her, too.

Hope to see you there!

I left my brain in Mexico!!

.

I had a fantastic anniversary trip to Playa del Carmen with my dear husband of 15 years.  Sadly, the sun did not melt my cellulite like butter - as I had hoped.  It did, however, melt my brain.  I am now fairly certain that I left large puddley portions of it floating in the pool.

I totally spaced including my May 20th show on my "Where's Wendy?" calendar.  We are performing at 7:30 p.m. at Curious Comedy Theater - the home of many other Time Out! shows.  Our May theme is "Mom-Xiety:  It's Not Your Mother's Angst."  Did my mom worry that we wouldn't understand her sense of humor? Did my mom worry that one of us would become a pole-dancer?  Did my mom have geniune concerns about losing her mind in a pool in Mexico? Only one way for you to find out. Come see the show.

If you can't make the Thursday night performance, cuz its a school night, come check out the show at Rave in the Nave at the Christ United Methodist Church in Cedar Mill on Saturday, May22nd.  I'm excited to be performing in my own hood.  Hope some of y'all can make it to that show.

Until then - anyone wanna get together and combine our collection of partial mom-brains to make a complete one?

A rose by any other name would be a stupid head.

Prior to our children's arrival, we thought we'd examined all the possible ways people could butcher their names. the names we'd chosen so carefully. The names we thought were unique, meaningful and at minimal risk for being mocked.  We'd even jokingly yelled the entire name out loud - practicing for that rare occasion when we might be mad at our little angels.  What we didn't practice was how their siblings would screech it at them in a fit of anger.

These normally beautiful names become freakified in a fit of sibling vehement. Elegance becomes irritant.  Like manicured nails on a chalkboard or chewing on a balloon.
Two syllables are not good enough when expressing ones disgust at a sibling.  How will the person know you HATE them if you don't take 5 minutes butchering their name?  Add vowels, consonants, guteral noises and maybe even some kind of derogatory rhyme - then they'll get the horrid picture.

I think one day I shall miss the sound of their "terms of disdainment" .  I know I'd like a chance to try.  Until then, I remind myself that sibling relations are good practice for life.  You can hate someone and love them at the same time.

Oh, no - now they've started in with the dog.  Gotta go!

Tonight's the night - "Who Are You and What Have You Done with My Child? Adventures with Toddlers and Teens".

Like a toddler or hormonally-ramped up teen, I need a nap. I stayed up too late last night working on stuff for tonights show.
And, like a Mom, the much needed nap, ain't gonna happen.  But that's ok because I'm so excited about tonight's show.

In addition to Jacki Sturkie, Jillian Starr, Joannie Quinn, Betsy Kauffman and me - Nicole McKinney is back and we'll be welcoming Ellen Wilson for her first time on the TIME OUT! stage.

Ok - I know it's Friday night and everyone's been working for the weekend (shameless 80's song reference) but 8 p.m. isn't too late to start. And we'll be done about 10:30, so you won't lose any beauty sleep.

Come on out to Curious Comedy Theater (5225 NE MLK Blvd)  Doors open at 7:30.

Don't you deserve a TIME OUT!

Who Are You and What Have You Done with My Child?

So many things to discuss with this topic. The weird transformation from toothless to one tooth to toothless to braces.  If you are my child, why are you taller than me?
How it is possible that your kids get older when you don't.

What will we talk about?  Join the Time Out! Moms this Friday March 12th at Curious Comedy Theatre 5225 NE MLK Blvd. at 8 p.m. to find out.

If you have children or have ever been a child, this show is for you.
